老鹰杯网上读书园地第一届艺术节活动之一
挑战中式英语（Combat Chinglish）



  
为丰富第一届老鹰杯网上读书园地艺术节活动内容，活跃书园气氛，提高会员学习英语的热情和英文写作水平，特举办此次活动。

主 办： 读书园地第一届艺术节管理委员会

活动主题：挑战中式英语（Combat Chinglish）
由会员对给出的中式英语句子做出评论修改，通过判断、修改英文句子中的中式英语成分，提高语言敏感和写作能力。

参加对象： 全体网上读书园地注册会员。

活动组织者：前期组织协调白马西北驰，拟聘请评审3到5名，设评审团主席一名，确定后公开名单。
目前已确定：评审团名誉主席：doctorliubo，评审团主席：swell；评委：woi55版主,macauor版主，louselice^_^学士，homestudy,bibliomaniac。

活动规则：
1 为配合第一届艺术节的日程安排，本次活动从11月2日开始，到11月19日结束。

2 以周为单位，活动分三阶段进行。每周出一次题（第一次出题为11月2日），到下周五由活动组织者公布正确答案，小结上周活动情况，并给出下周题目。具体安排如下：
    11月2日第一次出题，出一道题，答题截止时间为11月8日晚12点；11月9日第二次出题，出5道题，答题截止时间为11月15日晚12点；11月16日第三次出题，出2道题，并限定答题截止时间为16日晚12点；17日-18日总结评分，11月19日公布比赛结果。
[编辑帖子的时间在答题截止时间后的为无效答案；答案暂定加密58威望。重要：第二阶段（11月9日）以后由评审团主席评分，请参赛者加密答案为200威望。]

3 参加者跟贴格式
Part I Revision:对原文的修改；
Part II Analysis:指出原文的中式英语成分，分析其不够地道的原
         因，并说明修改理由。
要求：格式规范，表达清晰，用词准确，用英语表达为佳。
[修改和分析必须为原创，抄袭者取消参赛资格]

4 评奖方法：分阶段由活动组织者对参赛者的答案评分（暂由白马西北驰代理，11月9日以后由swell评分），每题1-5财富，总评分前十名的参赛者入围角逐最后奖项，由评审团综合评定入围者的答案，决定获胜者。

奖品设置：
一等奖1名：奖励3威望，30财富
二等奖2名：奖励2威望，20财富
三等奖3名：奖励1威望，10财富
优胜奖4名：奖励10财富
评审团成员发给评审费50财富，评审团主席100财富。
所有参赛者在比赛的各阶段都有机会获得每题1到5财富的评分奖励，这些评分不计入最后奖励。

explaination: "we have" doesn't give any particular meaning here, I think.
"Qing" already contains the meannig of a dynasty.

删掉we have ，inaugurated 只在被动句式中，施动者在此没必要说出。in character也没必要，unusual 这个单词已经包含此意思。

"unusual in character"为冗词，须删除in character，因为unusual本来就包含in character之意。

类似的还有red in color, many in number等。

"inaugurate" means marking the beginning of a new period, style or activity, or even a state, thus it's of course distinct in character.

Part II 修改原因：句中的unusual 这个词本身已包含 "属性 性质 特性 特征" 之义 故后面的 in character 属于superfluous 应去掉

Explanation:
the state is just inaugurated, so it's indubitably new. empire of Qing dynasty is too verbose, the Qing Empire is terse and typical.

in nature多余，另外，empire也是多余，因为很明显，这是同一块土地上新旧两个政权的对比，没有涉及到其他国家，所以，只要the Qing Dynasty，就行了

unusual in character  表达与后面有些重复，去掉。

清朝，清帝国表达直接用Qing dynasty即可

Part II Analysis:已经有just inaugurated就没有必要用new了，in character会产生歧义？Qing Empire已经有empire的意思，所以应该把empire去掉。
