?THE DALLES, Oregon - A little moondust is getting Peg
Davis into hot water. The pen-and-pencil set given to her
father, Joseph Healy, upon his retirement from NASA years ago
may contain moondust from the first lunar landing and tiny
scraps from the Apollo 11 capsule. Davis was shocked to
learn that the potential value of the desk set, now a family
heirloom, is probably $1 million. But NASA has impounded the
set, alleging that Davis is trying either to defraud the
public or to sell NASA property illegally.
?\"The guys in the lab put it together themselves,\" Ms
Davis said. \"While NASA talks about it being a felony for
anyone to take moonrock, this was a gesture of affection and
respect for Dad. They thought they were using scraps left
over from testing.\" |
