元夜   
               欧阳修
去年元夜时，花市灯如昼；月上柳梢头，人约黄昏后。
今年元夜时，月与灯依旧，不见去年人，泪湿春衫袖。
      
    At Lantern Festivalby Ouyang Xiu

Lights were bright as day in the flower-market last year,
And the moon was mounting above us to the tops of willows,
The lovers meeting to keep their tryst after dusk just here.
The bright lights and the moon look as good as last year,
But the lovers can’t be seen now at Lantern Festival,
Tears making my sleeves wet, coming down my cheers.


In the Lantern Festival night last year,
The flower market was lit up by the lanterns bright as day.
When the moon climbed to the top of the willow tree,
I met my date on time --just after the nightfall.
In the Langern Festival night this year,
The moon, the lanterns were same there.
I could not find my last year's date,
My festival dress sleeves were wet with tears.
