Ebola is a disease caused by the Ebola virus and is, in 90% of cases, fatal. The large majority of outbreaks occur in remote villages in central Africa and the disease is transmitted to people from wild animals. It is passed from human to human through bodily fluids, including sweat. The first outbreak occured simultaneously in 1976 in Sudan and the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). Since then there have been sporadic outbreaks with the most recent being 2014. So far over 900 people have died in West Africa as a result of the 2014 outbreak. The 2014 outbreak was declared an 'International Health Emergency' by the World Health Organisation on the 8th of August.

为何一些莫名其妙的病毒总是来自非洲？
我想是否是由于非洲是人类祖先的发源地，因此病毒和其他疾病的来源和进化时间都比较长，所以只要机会合适爆发出来就很可怕。
比如艾滋病、埃博拉等等。

第一。非洲原始自然条件很完美，人类活动少，气候主要为热带雨林气候和热带草原气候，可以说是野生动物的天堂。但是，很多动物都是病毒的宿主。例如，非洲著名的埃博拉病毒，就是以果蝠为宿主，然后传染给人类的。艾滋病则是由恒河猴传染给人类，最终散布到全世界的。
第二。非洲国家普遍贫穷，根本没有良好的医疗设施和保障制度。很多人染上了病毒后，人们只能眼睁睁看着，根本没有任何钱和技术去治疗，结果导致病毒蔓延。
第三。文明太落后。非洲很多部落尚未开化，对科技不了解，只崇尚部落的传统。再来说一下艾滋病。它就是因为非洲人认为血液可以延长寿命、提高性能力，于是将恒河猴的血液输到男性体内，导致病毒蔓延。
所以说，非洲病毒感染较为普遍。但其实，病毒在其他大洲并不见得比非洲少。这是由于人类的迁移、地区间的交流导致的。
