内容简介:
This book describes how the use of national currencies, only some of which have the important international property of being convertible, allows most of world trade to be effectively monetized rather than bartered. For a large proportion of foreign trade, but by no means all, firms and individuals throughout the world experience no difficulty in making \"money\" payments to buy foreign goods—even if they can no longer predict exchange rates between the national currencies for which they are liable. But the underlying monetary order, and observed conventions of exchange, cannot be taken for granted.
