After Oceanic Air Flight 815 tears apart in mid-airand crashes on aPacific island on September 22nd 2004, its survivorsare forced to findinner strength they never knew they had in order tosurvive. But theydiscover that the island holds many secrets,including a mysterioussmoke monster, polar bears, housing withelectricity and hot & coldrunning water, a group of islandresidents known as \"The Others,\" and amysterious man named Jacob. Thesurvivors also find signs of those whocame to the island before them,including a 19th century sailing shipcalled The Black Rock and theruins of an ancient statue, as well asbunkers belonging to the DharmaInitiative -- a group of scientificresearchers who inhabited theisland in the recent past.
