在英国因有世界上最著名的大学而闻名的小城市有二：牛津 和 剑桥．
牛津，这个小城市，因为有世界上最著名的牛津大学 （University of Oxford）而驰名世界．

剑桥这个城市，与牛津有点类似，也是由剑桥大学不同的学院组成的．
不过相比之下，剑桥大学各学院较分散些．最著名的是Kｉｎｇ＇ｓ Cｏｌｌｅｇｅ．
剑桥大学更以自然理工科科学著名，牛津大学则以法律人文科学更驰名．牛津剑桥大学有点
类似中国北大清华．
就城市而认，我更喜欢牛津这个城市．
这次参观剑桥城，因为各学院较分散，所以选择乘船穿过剑桥的Cam河来参观一下．

The city of Cambridge is a university town and the administrative centre of the county
of Cambridgeshire, England. It lies in East Anglia about 50 miles (80 km) north-by-east
of London. Cambridge is at the heart of the high-technology centre known as Silicon Fen
– a play on Silicon Valley and the fens surrounding the city.
Cambridge is well known as the home of the University of Cambridge.
The university includes the renowned Cavendish Laboratory, King's College Chapel,
and the Cambridge University Library. The Cambridge skyline is dominated
by the last two buildings, along with the chimney of Addenbrooke's Hospital
in the far south of the city and St John's College Chapel tower in the north.
According to the United Kingdom Census 2001, the city's population was 108,863
(including 22,153 students), and the population of the urban area
(which includes parts of the neighbouring South Cambridgeshire district)
is estimated to be 130,000. |
