我觉得noodle和pasta指的是不同的东西。英语的noodle从德语来，是个泛称，据说形状不一，原料各异，我感觉主要还是指长条状的“面条”。Pasta和一堆通心粉一样是意大利货，也千奇百怪，干的湿的都有，我也说不好。最方便的办法是到Google Image (http://images.google.com) 分别搜这两个词比较一下，就大概明白差别了。

“功夫熊猫”里肥波的爹开的是noodle restaurant，想来编剧不会因为是个动画片就在这样的地方故作“孩子气”。

注意"types of noodles by primary ingredient"里列了不少咱们出口到英语里的音译词，还在概述里特意提到有历史记载的最早的noodles出现在我国东汉，照此也可以判断，在中华大地上说noodle，那是无可厚非的了。

退一步讲，"Chinese noodles"肯定不会有人挑刺了：http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chinese_noodles。里面的"Chinese noodle types"也是琳琅满目啊。
