Laugh, and the world laughs with you; weep, and you weep alone.
—When you are happy and cheerful you find plenty of companions to share your joy, but when you are in sorrow none of your companions wish to share your unhappiness and you have to bear it alone.
Laugh, and the world laughs with you; weep, and you weep alone.
“Laugh and the world laughs with you,
Weep and you weep alone,
For the sad old earth must borrow its mirth,
But has trouble enough of its own。
