It looks like a million dollars!
You look a million dollars !
You look a million dollars ! You look great. / You look fantastic. You look a million bucks.
对话
Husband:Wow! What have you done to yourself? You look a million dollars!
Wife:Darling, not quite a million dollars.
Husband:Why do you say that?
Wife:Well, actually love, the botox, the plastic surgery and nose job cost $999 thousand dollars.
Husband:Can I get my thousand dollars back then?
美国口语说好看或容光焕发,往往以钱為言:to look (like) a million dollars / bucks。
To look like a million dollars. She needs no cosmetics to look like a million dollars. The refurbished house looked like a million dollars.
说感到身心舒畅、精力充沛等,也可以钱為言:to feel like a million dollars,例如:A leisurely morning stroll in the garden always makes me feel like a million dollars.(早上在花园裡散步,总令我感到身心舒畅)。
这也是成语to pass the buck的来源:轮流发牌,鹿角柄小刀一人传一人,引伸而言,to pass the buck即「推卸责任」。
