accuracy, clarity, and style

信、达、雅 我主张用accuracy, clarity, and style, 注意不是stylish。

信，就是要把原文的意思准确地翻译过来。
达，就是译文表达通顺易懂。
雅，就是根据语境、场合、专业等情况，采用最恰当的语文风格。

看看英文词典里对这几个词的解释：
Accuracy - noun:  the quality of nearness to the truth or the true value
Clarity - noun:  free from obscurity and easy to understand; the comprehensibility of clear expression
Style - noun:  a way of expressing something (in language or art or music etc.) that is characteristic of a particular person or group of people or period

再来看看这几个词：
Faithfulness – 对原作者faithful，还是对原文faithful，还是对党faithful（这曾经是最重要条件）?
Expressiveness – 表达能力，还可以用，不过why not call a spade a spade?
Elegance – 译文写得漂亮不一定管用。比如，科学论文像写小说那样写，不管写得多漂亮都没用。
