Meaning: crazy idea, ridiculous idea, has no merit/value, worthless,
not to be taken seriously.

Example: \"Since you asked me, I think the new proposal is for the birds.\"

Origin: This term has been said to allude to horse droppings from which
birds would extract seeds. This seemingly fanciful theory is borne out by a
more vulgar version of this idiom, \"shit for the birds\". Source:

Meaning: eats in very small portions, pecks at the food
Example: \"She eats like a bird trying to stay thin.\"
