THE festive season is here. With your friends and family members around and so many New Year and end of semester celebrations, you may be tempted to drink a lot. But remember, you may drink a little, but never drink too much!
To propose a toast:
Cheers! 干杯!
Make a toast! 干杯!
Let me propose a toast to you! 干杯!(我向你敬酒)
I'd like to propose a toast. 我提议干杯!
A little drink is good for a party atmosphere, but make sure you don't do any of the following:
be on the drink (酗酒成性): be alcoholic, be drinking all the time
have a skinful (喝多了): get drunk. \"Skinful\" is a noun, meaning \"把人灌倒的酒量\".
to drink (or put) sb/oneself under the table (喝趴下,喝醉): (let sb) drink too much and get drunk
Dialogue:
A: I propose another toast! Let's drink to the success of our project!
B: OK, but don't drink too much or George will end up under the table.
A: Don't worry. We won't drink too much, even George should be able to handle it.
A: 我们再干一杯吧,祝我们的项目成功!
B: 没问题,但是别喝太多了,不然乔治会喝趴下的。
A: 不用担心,不会喝太多的,乔治喝这么点儿肯定没问题。 |
