1. economic
Of or relating to the production, development, and management of material wealth, as of a country, household, or business enterprise.

2.economical
Prudent and thrifty in management; not wasteful or extravagant.
节俭的，节制的：管理上勤俭节约的；不浪费或不挥霍的
3.thrifty
Practicing or marked by the practice of thrift; wisely economical.
节俭的：勤俭操持的或以勤俭为特点的；精明而经济的
economic和另外两词意思差别很大。
单就economic和thrifty来说，
economical 着重“节省的”, 应用范围广, 可用来表示“在人力、物力、金钱, 甚至抽象概念方面节省的”, 可用于人或物, 如:
I have to buy a more economical stove.
我得买一个更节省燃料的火炉。
thrifty 强调“善于节省开支、积蓄钱财的”, 只用于人, 如:
She was a thrifty woman and managed to put aside some money every month.
她是个很会持家的妇女, 每月都设法存些钱。 |
