WHAT do you normally do when you're angry? Scream and shout at the top of your voice?
Shouting may be the easiest thing to do, but you may lose some friends if you do this. You could even make enemies. So how can you control your tongues?
Here are some tips that hot-tempered people always use to stop them from losing their temper.
* Glare at people: Let your imagination run wild: Try to imagine people you are angry with in the ugliest clothes imaginable. All your anger will disappear that moment. You actually feel like laughing when you start imagining that.
*Ugly Duckling theory: A 20-year-old girl says that when the situation gets out of hand, she remembers her mother, when she is at her ugliest. \"She is everything you don't want to look like.\"
* Take a walk: Walk out of the room and get a breath of fresh air rather than hitting the rooftop.
* Breathe deeply: When you're about to lose your temper, take three deep breaths before letting any words out. It can calm the nerves.
* You can even count to a certain level or sing your favourite song, or drink a glass of water, when you start feeling angry.
* Wash your face.
* If something is really angering you and you're itching to scream, bite your tongue. It will hurt but it will also prevent you from saying things you may regret later. |
