交际翻译注重译文读者产生与原文读者相同的效果。

Communicative translation attempts to produce on its readers an effect as close as possible to that obtained on the readers of the original.

语义翻译注重译出原文的所以意思。

Semantic translation attempts to render, as closely as the semantic and syntactic structures of the second language allow, the exact contextual meaning of the original.



Prof. Newmark’s major contribution is in a detailed treatment of semantic vs. communicative translation in which semantic translation focuses primarily upon the semantic content of the source text and communicative translation focuses essentially upon the comprehension and response of receptors.
