在英语中，thick skin并不像汉语中“厚脸皮”的贬义色彩那么重。英英字典中，这个词条的同义形容词是：callous（冷淡无情的），hardened（有忍受力的），unfeeling（麻木的）。而汉语的“厚脸皮”应该对应的英文则是be cheeky，或是be impudent。
