Reading is arguably your highest priority at this stage of the research. Make sure you read broadly and deeply so that you can be sure that you have established the best possible foundation for your research. Find suitable references by:
- Speaking to your supervisor.
- Speaking to peer researchers (group members) working in the same or related fields.
- Speaking to researchers from other areas who can give you interesting perspectives which might not be available within your own topic.
- Searching the journals that relate to your topic.
- Using subject indexes and abstracts.
- Looking closely at the reference sections of key books and articles relating to your topic.
- Searching the Internet for relevant information.
