\"I would rather he didn't leave tonight.\"
\"I would rather he stayed until next month.\"
OR
\"I would rather he not leave tonight.\"
\"I would rather he stay until next month.\"

Which is correct?
Thank you.

The first group is correct:
I would rather he didn't leave tonight."
"I would rather he stayed until next month."

because these two sentences belong to "Subjunctive Mood" , when you "would rather" somebody other than yourself did something, you shall use "Subjunctive Mood". But if you yourself "would rather" do something, we don't use it.
eg.: I would rather stay at home after supper.
but not "I would rather stayed at home after supper. "

第一组正确。would rather(宁愿)后接宾语从句that时一般用过去时,说的是现在或者是将来的事,如果说的是过去的事情则要用过去完成时,如 I would rather he had been here last night.

would rather 的这种用法类似于wish (祝愿)后面接宾语从句时的用法。
I wish you succeeded in the near future./ I wish you had succeeded in the match yesterday.
