Tributes are flowing in for naturalist and TV star Steve Irwin
who has died after a diving accident off far north Queensland.
这里面的off要怎么解释? 离Queensland不远的地方吗? 谢谢.

在离…海的附近

例如:
an island off the coast of southeast
东南沿海的一个岛屿

印象中好像是沿着海岸线用off
