IF a passenger is being robbed on a bus, is the driver responsible for helping the person deal with the robber? This is a new topic you can find in recent media reports and on Internet forums.
In fact, a woman who was robbed on a Guangzhou bus decided to sue the driver and the bus company because the driver didn't close the door to prevent the robbers from getting away. She asked for compensation, according to Information Times newspaper.
But the bus driver argued that he would have had to face eight robbers and if he hadn't let them go, he himself could have been hurt or even killed.
Guangzhou's Intermediate Court decided that the driver and the bus company shouldn't be held responsible. The judge ruled that helping a passenger stop a robber was not the responsibility of the driver.
But many people disagreed with the court and said that this will make passengers feel insecure in future.
So, is a bus driver obliged to give a hand to a passenger in a dangerous situation? |
