Since washers and dryers get a workout in most households here are some basic tips to avoid the unexpected.
Washer
1. Do not overload the washer. It damages the motor and transmission.
2. Every six months, remove and clean the intake screens where the water supply hoses enter the washing machine. Put the screens back in place afterward.
3. Remember to replace rubber fill hoses every five years
4. Be aware that detergents do not dissolve well in water temperatures colder than 70°.
Dryer
1. Overloading the dryer restricts air flow, taking it longer to dry.
2. Remove lint before every load.
3. Wash the lint screen when need.
4. Rigid of flexible metal ducts should be used for venting.
5. Remove lint from the duct every two to three years. |
