赞一个,
俺最近在网上狂收集老辞典,尤其偏向百科性dictionary。尤其是那些过了版权保护的词典。
某日看 Universal Dictionary OF THE ENGLISH LANGUAGE[在www.archive.org里有,貌似不全],看到poison条;
1. Pharm. : Professor Christison divides poisons into three great classes : irritants, narcotics, and riarcotieo-acrids or narcotico-irritanta. A fourth class is sometimes added, septics, cousistitig of animal poisons, such as the bites of rabid animals and venomous snakes, the stings of insects, and the poison generated by pestilential carbuncle, &c.[省略……]
读词典随机收获的乐趣。。。
跟bibliomaniac起个哄,推荐一哈1923年商务出版社的《英汉双解韦氏大学字典》[中美百万里有]。
E TO C时,想译成半文半白的中文时感觉参考很有用。[虽然俺没真的实践过]。
因为古文功底巨差,所以才会想到这个法子。而且觉得同义词部分解释精炼[syn.]
