英语中也有这样的打赌用语，叫“I'll eat my hat”，表达的就是这种意思：我绝对不会错，错了就把帽子吃掉。这种说法最早出现在迪更斯的《匹克威克外传》里，“If I knew as little of life as that, I'd eat my hat and swallow the buckle whole.”（如果我对生活了解的那么少的话，我就把帽子和带扣吞下去。）
