it /is/ meaningless. Pop songs are designed to grab the attention;
\"it won't be long before soon\" is what is called a \"hook\", which is designed
to make the 9-15 year-old (native-English-speaking) demographic wonder what
it means, and discuss it in the school playground (with those who \"know\"
what it means being \"important\").
Pay no attention. It's a marketing thing, all about getting teeny-boppers'
attention; it's a lot better to find out how to talk real English, rather
than worry about how we con our children into spending their parents' money
on one pop group, rather than another pop group.
(note: the entertainment industry is not a part of Western culture that I'm
proud of, even though I end up doing a lot of work in that demesne). |
