Never let bad feelings ruin you!


       Bad feelings, they say, may be called “domino effect” in which one event or action causes several other bad things to happen one after the other. I believe so. Look at the so-called psychological domino effect case:
       The boss scolded Xiao Wang severely for something. Back home, Xiao Wang had a furious row with his wife for certain unknown reason. Just that day, their son returned home a little later than usual. “Pa”, the angry mother slapped his face mercilessly. Feeling wronged and annoyed, the fourteen-year-old boy kicked the cat savagely. As a result, the frightened cat rushed out in an amazing speed to the street. A speeding truck nearly hit the poor cat so that it abruptly turned to another direction, which resulted in a young girl’s death on the spot at the very moment!
       The sad story ought to have been avoided!   
       Bad feelings are infectious and able to be spreading quickly and suddenly. If you seem depressed, the people around you remember and subliminally imitate your facial expressions, body language and even the rhythm you’d like to speak in. Like the lyrics in one of Wang Fei’s songs, “I’m happy because you are happy.” The similar meaning, I think, is also appropriate, “I’m sad, for you’re unhappy there!”
       Negative feelings affect your relations with your colleagues, friends, family members, lovers …, what’s worse, they bring a great deal of psychological diseases as well: worry, anxiety, obsession, nervous depression, etc.
       Bad feelings may destroy something, yet we have got effective methods to avoid partially or wholly the side effects:
       1. Learn to control and restrict ourselves. No one and nothing is completely free in this world. Self-restraint is the obvious and important difference that separate us from animals.
       2. When facing problems, never try to relieve yourself by losing temper or making hasty decisions, which you will sure regret a lot soon after! Lay down the work in your hand. And walk out and take part in colorful aerobic exercise. Or you may just devote your self into your present work, not letting yourself a little space to think about anything else but work!
       3. Effective psychological hints cure your negative feelings in a similar way. If you meet someone in bad mood or unluckily insulted by someone maliciously for unknown reasons, please say to yourself: “This is only hi`s bad feelings, which has nothing at all to do with me! I’m totally happy myself.” Here’s a good example, at the entrance to our company’s building, there stands a billboard, which reads, “No matter what happened to you back at home, whoever you met and quarreled with, smile to the customers you talk to and the colleagues around you!”
       4. Have a date out with one or two close friends. Pour out your bitter experiences and feelings and ask them for useful suggestions. Onlookers may see things more clearly and fairly in most cases.
       Seen from a different angle, bad things may appear positive features! Put up several amusing mini toys or decorate your office walls with bright designs or pictures. Before entering the office, smile to yourself and say, “Everything today is brand new like the fresh rising sun!” Action at once and actively, then we each may avoid being defeated by negative feelings!!
