世界杯决赛圈的小组赛阶段是一种淘汰赛，没获得第二轮比赛资格的就得走路回家。
Eliminate 就是“淘汰”的意思，“被淘汰出局”直接说be eliminated (from) 就可以了。
如果要说“以……的战果被淘汰”就可以说成be eliminated with。例如下面这句：
Paraguay, which had advanced to the second round in each of its last three World Cup appearances, was eliminated with its second 1-0 loss.
可怜的巴拉圭，果然是风水轮流转。巴拉圭曾经三次打入世界杯，并且每次都晋级第二轮比赛，可惜它在本届世界杯的小组赛中连续1比0输掉两场比赛，最终被淘汰。
顺便提一下，上次我们说到“几比几战胜……”，那么“几比几负于……”你会说了吗？细心的人肯定已经发现了，就是 (number) - (number) loss against ...

如果被淘汰，那就只好退出世界杯这个大赛场。所以“出局”也可以说成是exit。“退场”应该是“出局”的一种比较好听的讲法吧。
