The word Paternalism refers to an attitude stemming from the hierarchic pattern of a family based on a system in which the father is the undisputed head of the family (patriarchy)/ I that system the father, (pater in Latin) makes decisions on behalf of his wife and children and he does so for their own good, even if contrary to their opinions.
This implies that the fatherly figure is wiser than and acts in the best interest of those he protects. The term is now often used derogatorily to ark as disgraceful the attitudes or political systems that deprive individuals of their liberty.

Dictatorialism is based on blunt authority whereas Paternalism has its true origins in the love of the father for his family.
Dictatorial behavior imposes highhandedly; it expects unquestioning obedience and punishes if challenged. No basis of love here, just
authoritarian based on dogma.
