不入戏很难成为好演员，但如果“太入戏”、演的过了火候，恐怕也很难被称为好演员。俚语中，“演戏演过头”可表达为“to chew the scenery”。

“Chew the scenery”最早可追溯到古希腊。在古希腊戏剧中，人们常用该短语来形容那些矫揉造作、演得过于“热情”的新手。“Scenery”在此当然不是表示“风景”了，而是用来指代“舞台布景”。

试想，舞台剧中，最与演员息息相关的是表情、道具或演出服，但欠火候的演员却无法恰到好处诠释表演的真谛 —— 他们“把精力放在了舞台背景上”（to chew the scenery）。

此外，“演过头”并不仅仅拘泥于“to chew the scenery”这一种表达，您还可用“to over-act”或“to ham it up”来表达“演过头”。
