《创新药物化学》(The Practice of Medicinal Chemistry)一书的主编Camille. G. Wermuth教授是当今药物化学界的权威,他与美、英、法、德、日、比利时、澳大利亚、匈牙利等9个国家51位专家学者共同编写而成。中国科学院院士北京大学张礼和教授为该书的中译版写了序言。
全书内容极为丰富,分为药物化学概要、先导化合物的发现方法、构-效关系的基础研究、取代基和官能团、立体构型、受体图像和分子模型、影响药动学性质的化学修饰、药物和制剂上的化学问题、新药开发的法律和经济问题共八个部分43章。从新药的研究与开发,一直到新药的上市,对药物化学进行了全面系统的论述,不仅包括药物化学的传统内容,还详细介绍了新药研究与开发的最新技术和方法。本书不同于其它同类药物化学参考书,它并不是简单地介绍和论述药物研究开发的方法和技术,更重要的是它是各位作者在药物研究开发过程中,在各自研究领域所积累经验的总结。因此,不仅对从事药物研究与开发的科技工作者是一本不可多得的参考书,也是医药院校师生重要的参考书。
该书自1996年第一版以来,受到了各国药学界的好评,已被翻译成德、日、俄等多国文字。2003年第二版问世,又增加了许多新内容。
Wermuth教授称,该书的宗旨是利用化学进步(结构水平的推理)而达到生物学方面的进步(功能水平的推理)。
根据出版的作者介绍,Camille-Georges. Wermuth教授是Prestwick Chemical公司的创办人,主要研究方向是哒嗪衍生物的化学和药理学,共发表论文三百余篇,取得专利六十余项,获得许多奖项,曾任国际纯粹化学和应用化学联合会(IUPAC)药物化学部门主席。
值得一提的是,这本介绍药物化学领域国际研究进展的著作是由五十余位留学及曾经留学于海外的年青学者共同翻译而成。他们掌握和了解国外新药研究与开发的先进技术和经验,渴望为祖国的医药事业发展作出贡献。
