ILLEGAL CHINESE RICE REACHES UK

Illegal genetically modified rice from China has once again reached Europe, this time the UK.

British authorities have found a consignment on a ship from the Netherlands, the European Commission said yesterday. This is the same strain that was discovered on supermarket shelves in Austria and Germany last year, though Beijing has since said it had tightened detection.

来自中国的非法转基因大米已再次进入欧洲，这一次是出现在英国。

欧盟委员会(European Commission)昨日表示，英国官方在一艘来自荷兰的船上发现了一批中国转基因大米。这批大米与去年在奥地利和德国超市货架上发现的大米属于同一品种，尽管此后中国政府表示已加紧检查工作。
