我已把我听写过程中的困惑先标出来,但知道里面肯定还存在错误

They observe some sports(疑问) , for example, and study the motion of planets and stars. The Pennsylvania State University offers many summer programs. One camp this summer taught about what it is like to be a weather expert or meteorologist. Students at weather camp learned how tornadoes form. And they learned how to present weather information on television. Another State summer program was nursing camp. Students in this program took part in different emergency situations and learned how to treat injuries. 呵呵,累了,不写了,下次吧。

EDUCATION REPORT - Educational Camps
By Nancy Steinbach

This is Steve Ember with the VOA Special English Education Report.
Millions of American children attend summer camp. Most summer camps teach swimming and sports. But some are designed to teach special skills.

One of these is Concordia Language Villages camp in the state of Minnesota. Campers there learn to speak a foreign language without the use of books or teachers. The counselors speak the language all the time and show the campers what to do. The campers learn the language by watching and hearing the words. One student at the German camp said she experienced what it would be like to be in Germany.

Colleges and universities organize other learning camps. Southern Illinois University in Carbondale, Illinois offers a week long experience called "Summer Wings Camp." The camp is held at the Southern Illinois Airport. Campers learn about the history of flight and experience what an airplane pilot does.

At Gettysburg College in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, students can take part in a two-week camp that teaches astronomy. They observe sunspots, for example, and study the motion of planets and stars.

The Pennsylvania State University offers many summer programs. One camp this summer taught about what it is like to be a weather expert or meteorologist. Students at Weather Camp learned how tornadoes form. And they learned how to present weather information on television.

The head of the U.S. central bank, Alan Greenspan, Tuesday said that the (American) economy was doing very well.
Mr. Greenspan rejectedsuggestions that the economy is slowing down and predictedthat growth will reach four and a half percent this year. The recovery that began over two years ago, he said, is solid and job growth is likely to gain momentum(not sure)  in the months ahead. "And all of the other qualitative indicators that we have currently in the third quarter suggests that employment is continuing to expand. And indeed while there has been weakness in June, and a number of your colleagues have mentioned this, I might say that July seems to somewhat better even though we are going through a soft patch" [he said.]
The U.S. economy has been creating on average over 250,000 new jobs monthly during the past six months.
Mr. Greenspan refused to indicate whether there would be another small increase in short-term when the Federal Reserve meets at the end of August. Last month the fed raised rates by one quarter percent from what still remains an over 40 year low. But the central bank chief did say that he is pleased that the economy seems prepared for higher rates. "In short, Mr. Chairman, households along with financial institutions and businesses seem to be reasonably well prepared to cope with the transition to a more neutral stance in monetary policy," [he said.]
The central bank had sharply lowered the cost of borrowing in 2002 and 2003 to encourage economic activity and promote recovery from the 2001 recession Mr. Greenspan said further rises in energy prices would pose a risk to the otherwise strong economic rebound

7月24日听力文本:

Afghan Military Commander Plans to Run for President
Michael Kitchen

A powerful northern Afghan commander(司令官,指挥官)says he will run for president in Afghanistan's coming election. General Abdul-Rashid Dostum, though unlikely to win the presidency, is a major force in Afghan politics because of strong support from the country's ethnic Uzbeks(乌兹别克族).

General Abdul-Rashid Dostum joined the growing number of Afghan presidential candidates Thursday after resigning earlier in the day from his posts as presidential adviser and northern military commander.

Under Afghan law, military officials and civil servants cannot run for president.

General Dostum enjoys overwhelming support among his fellow ethnic Uzbeks, however, he has only limited support among other communities. Afghanistan's Uzbek community is estimated at between 5 and 10 percent of the total population.

The Uzbek leader is controversial, due to his supporters' involvement in factional fighting(派系斗争)in the Uzbek heartland of northern Afghanistan.

Forces loyal to him have frequently clashed with ethnic Tajik rivals under another northern commander, Atta Mohammed. Both the United Nations and the current transitional government have been called in to broker truces(停战,休战)between the two sides.

While the final number of candidates running in the October presidential race will not be known until later this month, at least 20 people have already applied to run.

Despite the large field, recent Afghan and international media reports place President Hamid Karzai as the heavy favorite, as he is well known and enjoys strong support from international aid donors.

But even his staunch(坚定的)supporters, such as Abdul-Hakim Noorzai, head of a new pro-Karzai party, say the president's victory is by no means(决不)assured.

If candidates with strong support among their own ethnic constituencies(选民)splinter(分裂,分散) the vote, they could prevent Mr. Karzai from taking more than 50 percent of the total. That would force a second-round run-off(决定性竞选)election between the top two vote-getters.

Mr. Noorzai says a run-off election would likely be a tougher race for the president, and locking in a victory in the first round will depend on how hard Mr. Karzai campaigns.

"If he chooses a good commission to campaign for him, I am sure Mr. Karzai will be the winner in the first round of the election," [he said.] "But if not [there] will be another result."

The October 9 presidential election will be the first vote of its kind after over two decades of war. An election for parliament and provincial governments is expected to follow sometime next spring.
