On the 5th anniversary of the Sep. 11th attacks, President Bush has made a televise appeal from the Oval Office for the American public to unite behind the Administration’s global war on terrorism. Mr. Bush said the United States was engaged in the key ideological struggle of the 21st century. From Washington Justin Web reports.

This was built by the White House as non-political speech with the President fulfilling his duties as the nation’s commend-in-chief and head of the State. Mr. Bush talked the face of evil they’ve shown on 9.11 of the distinctly the American sight of ordinary citizens rising to the occasion and the wish of every American that the war could be over. It was warning, too, for Osama bin Laden.

“No matter how long it takes, America will find you and we will bring you to justice.”

But immediate after this uncontroversial start, Mr. Bush strode headlong into more difficult territory. With the assertion that the future safety of the United States depended on the outcome of the battles being fought on the streets of Baghdad, he repeated his view that Saddam Hussein has posted a clear threat. Mr. Bush called on the Americans to put aside their differences but he made it clear that he was asking as well if they accept his version of recent history. And for that reason, this speech is not likely to unite the nation.

Earlier, hundreds of rebels arrived at the assembly points in southern Sudan as agreed under cease-fire deal. Karen Allen was there.

“Rebels made their way through the thick vegetation in northern Uganda. Some of these fighters have barely reached their teams. These insurgents from Lords Resistance Army or LRA are heading for two sites of south Sudan where with the cease-fire are now in place they’ll remain until peace talks end. Now the first report that at least 400 rebels have arrived. Among them, Vincent Otti, the LRA’s No. 2, who just days ago refuse to move until international arrest warrants against the rebel’s lead were lifted.
