Chinese distribution of pirated IT books, guides and test

In response to all those English language IT books being sold in China, all I can say is that as someone who has lived overseas most of my life, finding books in English overseas is very common. Usually bookstores in big cities and capitals do this, and recently, they even stopped overcharging for these imports. The freedom of press applies to books, newspapers and media.
What is UNUSUAL though, is the fact that a Chinese company has actually specialized itself on importing not only English language books, but specifically IT books with a probable intent to sell to Chinese IT professionals. This would be called \"targeted marketing\" or 'going after a new developing market segment\" in business talk.
Many coutries cannot translate these IT books because they haven't officially \"invented\" a new or equivalent IT word in their language yet - and so it is far easier to teach English to IT professionals, and then let them read IT books and training material in English. As a matter of fact, you could sell the same IT books in English to Europeans and make a killing.
Nothing of what the Chinese IT book company is doing is illegal, and is just another case of Chinese brilliance. The same kind that helped China rise to power in the last 30 years or so. When it comes to capitalism, Red China has always beat us at our own game. It's sad, but - unfortunately true.

I understand what you are saying about English titles being 'sold' in China... but what I was pointing out here was the VAST number of illegally pirated and copyrighted titles that are being distributed fairly freely in China.
If I were to put all those titles on my server for distribution to anyone who wanted to download a copy, the copyright cops would have my server offline within a week.
But it seems that over in China there is a much more lax attitude on these type of materials being hosted and made freely available for downloading.
The Chinese market has made haphazard efforts to enforce anti-piracy measures against the ripping of music, games, operating systems and videos. Yet the free and pirated distribution of copyrighted books seems to be an area that does not get any enforcement. Some of these 'book' libraries that are available for browsing and downloading from have built their collections up over a period of years.
I guess in a way the free distribution of North American copyrighted technical books within China, North Korea, Malaysia and certain other countries is beneficial to the countries - and hence there is zilch enforcement - since it doesn't really hurt their economy and gives their IT professionals access to the best books in the world at no cost to the individuals.

Back on China's case: Part of China's advances are due to violating copyrights and specifically - reverse engineering the technology - especially when it comes to U.S. material and technology we entrusted them with (supposedly) for mass-reproduction under the guise of cheap labor.
If someone ever violatd original Chinese works and technologies - then you might see some sincere solidarity and perpaps even some (real) cooperation from their part. They only crush enough pirated software to fool the international press.
The Chinese government wouldn't be the first government to be involved in illegal activity behind layers and layers of cover. How else could the worlds most controlled national network not know about copyright infrigements going on on right under their noses?
...and I'm not even wearing my cynical cap today...

I'm sorry, we're actually winning the capitalism \"race\" in China; we have more businesses there than just about anyone. When was the last time you've seen a multi-national chain of Chinese busniesses dotting the good ol US. Can you name one?
Thievery is just that. It's not just located in China either, it's world-wide. That's why we have trade agreements and other compacts with other countires to respect each-other's intellectual property. Someday maybe China will rise to the level of respect required.

Many: They call them \"dollar stores\", U.S. franchises where 90% or more of everything they sell for a buck is made in china. They have been flooding the U.S. and E.U with cheap textiles lately, and to keep the ICBM's pointed away, we opened our ports to their overwhelming cheap merchandise.

You earn sallery 10 times more so u easely can buy every think original cause ur country is not the same conditions what dont mean that others cause of high copyrights prices almost programed from chinese developers in usa should not can get it even if internet downloading is allread a lot money. So host your stuff on your country law server and dont talk about others terretory where u never been. U dont know how the world is different and never u get all countries under ur law. |
