The sentencing trial of convicted terrorist Zacarias Moussaoui enters a second phase today (Thursday), with jurors hearing from relatives of victims of the September 11th (2001) terror attacks. At the end of this phase, the jury will decide if Moussaoui will be executed or spend the rest of his life in prison.
The relatives' testimony comes a day after a U.S. federal judge ruled that the cockpit voice recording of the hijacked United Airlines Flight 93 can be played at the trial. She has given the families of the passengers on that flight until next Tuesday to tell her if they would object to the recording being released to the public after it is played in the courtroom.
Flight 93 crashed into a field in Pennsylvania after some of the passengers are believed to have fought the hijackers. The hijackers are thought to have wanted to crash the plane into the U.S. Capitol.
