THIS IS A RUSH TRANSCRIPT. THIS COPY MAY NOT BE IN ITS FINAL FORM AND MAY BE UPDATED.

MONICA LLOYD, CNN STUDENT NEWS ANCHOR: Thanks for choosing CNN Student News on this Wednesday, March 15th! I'm Monica Lloyd. Teenagers with Ipods, lend us your ears: You may want to hear your music loud, but keep that up and you may not hear much at all in the years ahead! A dramatic, 10-hour raid pays off for Israeli troops who wanted to keep 10 Palestinian prisoners behind bars. We'll tell you why. And one young man's hoop dreams get a Presidential seal of approval when the chief executive pays him a surprise visit.

First Up: What'd You Say?

LLOYD: First up today-- Whether you're on the bus, in homeroom, or at the gym, you've probably cranked up your MP3 player when your favorite song came on. But people your age are particularly vulnerable, to the damaging dangers of high volumes. Just how high are we talking? Well, if it's louder than your lawnmower, you could be in trouble. Listen up as Brianna Keilar brings us the details.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

BRIANNA KEILAR, CNN REPORTER: The American Speech-Language-Hearing Association is calling attention to a national survey showing portable listening devices can hurt hearing, especially for teenagers.

REP. MIKE FERGUSON, (R) NEW JERSEY: More than half of highschool students in this study reported signs of hearing damage...more than half.

KEILAR: But the group also found adults aren't very concerned about the problem, even though they listen to music louder and longer than uyoung people.

ALEX JOHNSON, PRESIDENT ASHA: A case could probably be made that the kind of technology covered by our poll is not only here to stay, but also stands to become ever more abundant.

KEILAR: The popularity of these devices with earbuds or earphones have concerned hearing health experts for some time.

DR. DANIAL HARTMAN, CALIFORNIA PACIFIC MEDICAL CENTER: If you're listening to an iPod at it's maximum setting, there's no doubt that will cause hearing loss over time.

KEILAR: Once hearing is gone ... it's gone for good.

HARTMAN: The time when they start to have ringing in their ears or complain of hearing loss it's far too late. There's nothing that can be done about it ....so it has to be preventative.

KEILAR: And that means the music is fine, but turn down the volume.

HARTMAN: You want to get it below 90dB, which on these IPods, a good safe gauge is between 1/2 and 2/3 maximum volume.

KEILAR: Apple, the manufacturer or the iPod, the most popular portable listening device on the market, already includes with each iPod a waring that says \"permanent hearing loss can occur if the earphones are operated at a high volume.\" Brianna Keilar, CNN Washington.

Shoutout

CARL AZUZ, CNN STUDENT NEWS REPORTER: Time for the Shoutout! What are the three tiny bones in your ears called? If you think you know it, shout it out! Are they: A) the hammer, anvil, and stirrup B) the pistol, barrel, and bullet C) the putter, wedge, and driver, or D) the canvas, stylus, and brush? It's A! The hammer, anvil and stirrup are known as the auditory ossicles! That's your answer and that's your Shoutout!

Moussaoui Trial Update

LLOYD: The judge in the Zacarias Moussaoui trial allowed the punishment phase to continue yesterday. But it could be harder now for prosecutors to convince the jury that Moussaoui should get the death penalty. Prosecutors won't be allowed to use certain witnesses, because some of them were allegedly coached by lawyers - against the judge's rules. Moussaoui's the only person charged in the U.S., in connection with the September 11th attacks. He pleaded guilty last year to terrorism-related charges. A jury must decide whether he'll be sentenced to die, or life in prison.

Around the World

LLOYD: Now we'd like to take you on a trip around the world for a look at its headlines. Here's Deanna Morawski with stories from Jericho, Iraq's capital, and The Hague.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

DEANNA MORAWSKI, CNN STUDENT NEWS REPORTER: In the West Bank city of Jericho, six Palestinian inmates surrendered Tuesday after a dramatic raid by Israeli troops. Using tanks and bulldozers, Israel moved in to seize the prisoners - who allegedly were involved in the assassination of an Israeli official. According to Palestinian security sources, four people were killed and 35 wounded during the 10-hour raid. Israel says the move was prompted in part by recent Palestinian statements about plans to release the prisoners.

Iraq's Interior Ministry has banned driving in Baghdad beginning tonight. It's a precaution for the first meeting of Iraq's new parliament, which is scheduled to convene Thursday. The move comes after Baghdad police found more gruesome evidence of the growing violence between Iraqis. At least 86 bodies have been discovered since Monday morning -- some of those strangled, others shot... fueling fears that Iraq is edging toward civil war.

At the International Court of Justice in the Hague, a war crimes tribunal has officially closed the trial of former Yugoslav President Slobodan Milosevic. Milosevic, who died Saturday, was charged with genocide, crimes against humanity, and war crimes in the Balkans during the 1990's.

After some initial confusion about where Milosevic's funeral would be held, the family's lawyer announced Tuesday that he'll be buried in the Serbian capital of Belgrade today. Serb officials say they won't prevent the funeral, but insist the state will not mourn its former president.

BORIS TADIC, SERB PRESIDENT: Any funeral attended by members of the state would be counterproductive, bearing in mind the role Milosevic played in Serbia's recent history.

MORAWSKI: Preliminary autopsy results indicate that Milosevic died of a heart attack, but his family members think he may have been poisoned. Final autopsy results are expected sometime this week. And that's what's happening Around the World. For CNN Student News, I'm Deanna Morawski.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

Shoutout

AZUZ: Time a little Shoutout Extra Credit! The nationality of people who live in the U.S. is American. What's the nationality of people who live in the Netherlands? You know what to do! Is it: A) Finn B) Danish C) Belgian D) Dutch You've got three seconds--GO! It's D! Dutch is both their nationality and one of their official languages! That's your answer and that's your Shoutout!

GW & J-Mac

LLOYD: Maybe you've watched the team taking the field or the court and thought to yourself, \"if I just had one shot, I know I could make it count.\" That's the story of the 17-year-old autistic student known as \"J-Mac,\" who made history at his New York high school last month. Wolf Blitzer shows us how he's still getting points for his amazing performance.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

WOLF BLITZER, CNN REPORTER: Jason McElwain's smile said it all. His airport encounter with President Bush was icing on the cake for a high school senior whose hoop dreams came true.

PRESIDENT GEORGE W. BUSH: Jason, mind if I call you J-Mac. I'll call you J-Mac, you call me G.W.

BLITZER: J-Mac's story never fails to choke most of us up, even if we've heard it and seen it -- over and over again. Jason is autistic. For three years he was the hard-working manager of his school's basketball team in a suburb of Rochester, New York. He had never been allowed to dress with the team, let alone play in a game. Then, last month, during the final home game of the season, the coach told him to suit up.

JASON MCELWAIN: He said this is your senior present, this is your last chance to ever get on the floor as an actual basketball player for that night

BLITZER: J-Mac took the ball -- and ran with it. He scored an amazing 20 points in the four minutes left in the game. Six three point shots, and one two pointer.

MCELWAIN: I was on fire. I was hotter than a pistol.

BUSH: It's the story of a young man who found his touch on the basketball court, which in turn touched the hearts of citizens all across the country. Saw it on TV and I wept, just like a lot of other people did. Let me have that there, coach. There you go. It kind of looks like you.

BLITZER: It was difficult to tell who enjoyed this meeting more. Jason and his parents -- who got to spend some quality time with the Commander in Chief, or, was it Mr. Bush? He took a detour from a routine Medicare speech, and from his mounting political problems, to enjoy the company of a young man who's been an inspiration to us all.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

Before We Go

LLOYD: Before we go... Maybe you agree that shorter hair is easier to handle. But if you enjoy growing the extra mile, you're gonna love this! The lengthy locks of this Lithuanian teenager, measure more than four feet long-- That's longer than some of you are tall! And it was enough to help her win by more than a hair, at this Tress - or hair - Festival in Lithuania. Now as you can see, no one here was missing a mane. And that's just what organizers wanted - to honor traditionally long tresses. And we'll leave you with that! For CNN Student News, I'm Monica Lloyd. More stories are coming right up.

Goodbye

除去音乐约1.5min之外,其他的英文是约9分钟很地道的American English,难度颇大啊。
