Yuyuan Gardens



The Yuyuan Gardens is situated at the south district of Shanghai City. It was constructed in the period of Emperor Jiajing's rein of Ming dynasty from 1559 and completed in 1577. It has a history of more than 400 years. It is a famous classical garden in the south of China, the total area of which is over 20 thousand square meters.
The main scenic spots in the Yuyuan Gardens are the Urban Mountain Forest, Hualin Charming Valley, Spring Famous Historical Site, the Most Enjoyable Water-Stone Site, Treasure in the Universe and Garden within Gardens. In the garden are ridges and peaks and zigzag paths, beautifully decorated. On the walls are brick-made dragons curling around, as vivid as life, an unique sight of the their kind. They have maintained the artistic style of the south of China during the Ming and Qing dynasties.

The Urban Mountain Forest is located at the west of the garden district; there are Shansui (three ears of grains) hall, Rain Swirling Tower, Grand Artificial Hill, Hall of Elegance and other scenic sights. The Grand Artificial Hill is the cream of the Yuyuan Garden, a legacy of Ming dynasty. It was constructed in accordance with the design made personally by the well-known mason Zhang Nanyang.

In the Hualin Charming Valley are waterside pavilion, winding corridors, Yihang, Floral Tower and other scenic sites.

The Most Enchanting Water stone site is situated at the eastern part famous for its ponds and artificial hills.

The Treasure in the Universe consists of ingenuous and exquisite Jade Stone, Accumulated Water Veranda, Jade Hall, Dragon Winding Bridge and other building. The exquisite and ingenuous Jade is one of the three well-known stones in the south of China with the characteristics of wrinkle, thinness, slimness, filter and transparency. Tradition has it that it the leftover of the floral stones gathered by emperor Huizong to build "Genyue Longevity Hill" in Nanjing. The Inner Garden is a garden within the Yuyuan Garden in which are such pavilions and towers, artificial hills, ponds and what not, exquisitely beautiful.

Xujiahui Catheral



Located in Xujiahui district in the southwest of the city, Cathedral of St. Ignatius is the largest Catholic church in Shanghai, which has room for 2,500 people at any given service. A Roman-style chapel was first laid out in 1847 in memory of the founder of the Jesuit order. Later when the Xujiahui district flourished, French Jesuits expanded the chapel to the present scale.


In the style of French Gothic architecture, the church has outer walls laid with red bricks, and pointed arch windows and doors. With spacious and grand interior, it holds totally nineteen altars, each of which is decorated with sculptures and ornaments mostly of marble. Two flanking bell towers stands around 50 meters high. The cathedral is where Catholics in Shanghai attend Mass and many adherents hold their weddings

The Beijing Botanical Garden (BBG) is located near the Wofou Temple of West Hill and covers a area of 400 hectares,it has 18 different topic parks now,such as Tree-peony garden,Autumn garden,Cherry Valley etc.There is also a memorial hall for Caoxueqin,author of the famous Chinese novel "Dream in Honglou".Now there are 200 hectares area of it that is available for public.There are also scenes like Wofou Temple,Tomb of Liangqichao,Memorial Hall of "129 movement". It's estimated that there are more than 560,000 plants covering more than 5,000 species in the garden.Some activities like April Peach Festival,September The City Flower Festival are periodically held in the Garden. Almost each season is good for the tour of BBG,however Summer is the best for it. There severl hotels right near the sight.Since BBG is not far awary from urban Beijing. To stay in downtwon is good choice for you if you are going to bid a visit BBG.Ticket of it charges RMB 5 and give a 50% discount for students.Some special parks or halls also need you pay and the price ranges from RMB 5 to RMB 55.All of outdoor gardens are opened during 7:00am--5:00pm.

You can get there by bus 331, 904, 737, 714, 833, 733, 318, 360, mini-23, mini-66. There are two main visitor entrances on Xiangshan Nanlu and Xiangyi Lu .You can also drive from Summer Palace,continue straight onto Xiangyi Lu and drive 10 kilometers and turn right to the Garden's parking lot. The Hetula city situated in the Yongling town of Xinbin County, it is a small county in Fushun city of Liaoning province. She is five kilometers from the Yongling Mausoleum of the Qing Dynasty, which is the world culture inheritance. Hetula means small hills with even tops in Manchu language. She is on the list of provincial preservation units, and the national scenic region of level "AAAA". Hetula city has a history of more than 400 years, it was built in 1603 AD.
Hetula city is constitute of inner town and outer town, the wall is built of clay, stones and woods.
The Hetula city is the cradle of Qing dynasty.
Hetula city is the first Capital of Qing dynasty and the last Capital that in the category of mountain city in Chinese history. She is also one of the best preserved mountain city of Nvzhen people. She is the political, economic, military, cultural, diplomatic center of later Jin dynasty. She is the cradle of Qing dynasty.
How to get there?
I think it is easy for you to get to the city Fushun by railway, then you take a taxi to the Fushun tourist bureau. Then everything is ok, you just have to pay some money, the problems such as accommodation are just "small cases".
When to go there?
Whenever you go there is ok, i am afraid the price will be much high during Labor's Day and Nation's day holiday.
I must say that, you pay the bill, so you are the boss, you can go there whenever you want. Fushun is my hometown, i think everything is cheap there.

People there are typical northeastern characteristics, they are warm hearted but easy to lose temper, so, be careful.( nothing special besides that)

I come from shanghai.Then let me introduce you about the place I live in,that is,Chenghuang Miao Temple and Yu Garden. Whoever comes to Shanghai couldn't miss it.

Chenghuang Miao Temple 城隍庙
The Temple of the Town Deity is located south of Yuyuan Gardan. There used to be a temple to the local deity, whick the inhabitants believed would protect them, in every city. The city deities were frequently real persons to whom the town owed something. Today, an arts aand crafts store is in the temple.

Yuyuan Garden 豫园

Yuyuan Garden is northeast of the Old Town. A high official had it designed in the Suzhou style as a private garden and built from 1559-- 1577. Later, it was restored several times. In spite of its relatively small area of two hectares it seems considerably larger due to the skillful arrangement of 30 different landscape scenes.

The garden consists of an inner and an outer section. The inner garden, neiyuan, is in the southern part and substantially smaller than the outer one, but then, it is more impressive and romantic, if it is possible to visit it in the early moring hours in order to enjoy it alone. An excellent calligrapher displays his work in one of the halls.

the outer part is in the north and contains numberous halls, pavilions and lakes. In 1853, the Pavilion of Spring in the northeast was the seat of the Xiaodao Hui, the Society of Little Swords, tho led an uprishing against Qing rule and occupied Shanghai for 17 months. Today, weapons and coins made by the Xiaodao Hui society, among other objects, are exhibited in this hall.

A man-made, 11-m-high hill bounds the garden in the northwest. Huxin Ting teahouse is a favorite with the citizens of Shanghai. It is in the southwest, outside of the garden grounds, a two-story building resting on posts in the middle of a pond and connected to the shore by a 'Zigzag Bridge'.
Yon can take Bus 66,Bus127,Bus fangchuanxian and so on to these two places.

Yuntaishan Mountain National Geopark  (云台山地质公园)

I am going to introduce the Yuntaishan Mountain in Jiaozuo City. I believe it is better than most other famous mountains in China, but due to its inconvenient transportation, it is relative less well-known to the tourists.
Anyway, come here and see it for youself, and you will trust me.

The Yuntaishan Mountain National Geopark, Jiaozuo, Henan is situated in the north of xiuwu county, Jiaozuo city, it is just at the south slope of Taihangshan Mountain.

Within the scope of the geopark, the strong erosion and cutting made the landforms be very tattered, with many deep canyons and steep cliffs. The geopark shows a picture scroll of steep and high peaks up to the skies, the magnificent peaks, flying waterfalls in faulted cliffs, quiet valleys and clear brooks, green hills, abundant fossils and other geological heritages, as well as the many historic & cultural relics.

A well-exposed and complete stratigraphic section represents a geological history from the 1.4 billion years ago to 300Ma ago. There are many geological hertages, such as the Archaeozoic to Early Proterozoic basis, especially the typical structural heritages of Neotectonic movement in Cenozoic Era.

Transportation： you can only go there by taxi or "delica", a special mini-bus of the scenery spot. Remember give the drivers no more than 20 yuan.
There are a lot of house hotels, 50-70 yuan/day. It's not recommanded to stay in the big hotels.
The ticket fee costs 60 yuan, and soldiers can get free entrance.
Best time to visit: come here in summer and autumn.
Notes: take some clothes and an umbrella. It rains a lot and gets quite cool.

Wudalianchi,namely five linked ponds, is a tourist and health resort located in Dejun County, Heilongjiang province, and 413km away from Harbin, the capital of the province. Wudalianchi takes its name after five pearl-string like lakes which came into being after the lava erupted from the dormant volcanoes blocked the rivercourse of Whit River. Around the lakes there are 14 volcanoes and a terrain of solid lava of over 60 square kilometers. The group of volcanoes of different shapes spring up from the ground and form a rather unique scenic spot in the local area. It is also called a volcano park or a museum of natural volcanoes.

The lakes posses two main characteristics. First, the unique scenery. The shapes of fulgurites formed by the lava erupted from the volcanoes vary sharply and vividly: Some are in the shape a dragon, some takes the shape of an elephant sucking water, some appear to be a waterfall.....Still there is another type called tower tone,2-3 meters high, which has been formed by layers of fulgurites.And, the caves formed by the flowing lava are another interesting spot for the tourists, who can pick up one or two irregular fulgurite as souvenirs. The second characteristic is the mineral springs everywhere thanks to the rich local mineral reserves.Most of them are cold mineral springs with over ten minerals good to people's health It is generally called heavy-carbonate mineral water which can either be used for drinking or bathing, and can cure gastric diseases, neurasthenic,skin diseases and hypertension, etc.Nowadays, scores of mineral water sanitariums have been built up and accomodate XXXX patients required for treatment with such mineralsprings..

The main scenic spots at Wudalianchi include: Wudalianchi, Medicated spring Mountain park and volcano museum. The five lakes are connected with one another,which stretch about 20 km, with the water area of 40 square km, and the deepest point is over 100 meters below sea. The medicated spring mountain, 350 meters in altitude, is the smallest volcano among the fourteen, whose spring water is called "Holy water" due to its medical functions.There are also various buildings in the park. The volcano museum takes its name after its sound volcanic geologic physiognomy formed during the eruption from 1719 to 1721 from two volcanoes, Laoheishan and Huoshaoshan. It is the only area in China where volcanic activities still exist.
Every dragon boat festival. The local people have a so-called drinking water festival, which is one of the most important festivals in the local area and people have a 3-day holiday. .Just after the midnight of the dragon boat day, people surround the springs and try to get the water from the hoses, with sweet smiles on their faces and greetings to one another. As the legend goes, the spring water at the midnight of the dragon boat day is deemed as “Magic Water” or “Holy water” which can cure all diseases. If you are able to drink it at that time, you will be protected from all the misfortunes during the year.

Tourist service:

It takes you around eight to nine hours by train from harbin to Beian, then you can take transit buses to Wudalianchi. A tour just for sightseeing purpose will only take you two days. What’s more, Long Quan Hotel, located in the Central Street of the city, is a hotel built for accommodating foreign tourists.

Drifting tourism at Honghe River canyon
The drifting tourism starts from a small village called Shatuzi of Dashuhe town in Fushun to a place named Yaozhangou with a length of 12,800meters. There is plenty of water and it is clear and without pollution. The width of the drifting zone is from 20 meters to 50 meters, the average depth of the drifting area is about 1 meter. The drifting region constitute of impetuous torrent region and soft water stream region. The soft stream region make you at ease and the impetuous water is frightening but without danger. Both sides of the river are occupied by trees and strange-look stones. You may spot the wildfowl if you are lucky enough. The whole drifting will make you feel that you have returned to the protohistoric age. The river flows according to the geographic features of the hills.

Yongling Mausoleum of the Qing Dynasty in Xinbin County
Yongling Mausoleum is the earliest mausoleum of the Qing Dynasty, it was built in 1598AD. It was originally called Xingjingling Mausoleum and was named Yongling Mausoleum in 1659AD. It is situated one kilometer west of Yongling Town in Xinbin County. It stands facing Shuzihe river and the Qiyun Mountain stands behind it. It occupied a area of ten thousand square meters. Nurhachi’s ancestors are buried in the Mausoleum.
The Yongling Mausoleum is constituted of the forecourt, square town, Baocheng town, its construction is more or less as the Fuling Mausoleum and Zhaoling Mausoleum in Shenyang of Liaoning province. The whole Mausoleum is surrounded by wall. The Zhenghong gate is at the southern side. Inside the gate are four stone monuments. They represent the Zhaozhuyuan Emperor, Jingzhuyi Emperor, Xingzhuzhi Emperor and Xianzhuxuan Emperor. The southern gate of the square town is Qigong gate.
The Yongling Mausoleum is now on the list of world culture inheritance, so you should go there and take a look at it.

If you want to go there yourself ( not follow a tourist group), you should get to Nazamu town, it is on beside the railway from Shenyang to Jinli. You may go there by train. Then you have to find the bus station and take a bus to get to Yongling town. I recommend that you follow the tourist group, that will save you some money, believe me please.

Never-never land ----Jiu Zhai Gou

Needless to say, you know it. Yes, it’s one of the hottest landscapes in China. I’ve been there for a tour 3 years ago, when SARS was just prevailing in China.  However, it seemed that even the most horrible virus couldn’t stop people’s desire for the so-called fairy resort in terrestrial.
Jiu Zhai Gou is well known for its water, which seems to have life. The flowing, spotless, transparent, mottle-colored water, just like a beautiful girl, is waiting for you to watch, hear and feel. I had a dream at that time, that one day I could have a swim in the water, just like being embraced by the sweet girl----“like water”, virtually a compliment for girls, isn’t it?
Season is not a critical factor for visiting Jiu Zhai Gou. It has different flavors in different seasons.
So why not now, in spring?
You can start from ChengDu City, SiChuang Province, by bus or by plane,  about 500 yuan and 1500 yuan respectively.of course, it can't be so cheap in the Golden Week holiday. detailed imformation is available on the websites of various tour companies.
i promise, It’s a place you’ll never regret for visiting.

Lei Feng Memorial Hall
The Lei Feng Memorial Hall was first built in the year 1964. A new one was built in 1992, it is situated at the eastern segment of Heping Road in the Wang hua District of Fushun city of Liaoning province and occupies 56,700 square meters. It is the place where Leifeng died at.
General secretary Jiang Zemin visited the LeiFeng Memorial Hall on October 29, 1990 and wrote the title of the Lei Feng Memorial Hall in person. The main memento are Leifeng Monument, Lei Feng’s tomb, the statue of Lei Feng and the exhibition hall of Lei Feng’s stories.
There are inscriptions for Lei Feng from Mao Zedong, Deng Xiaoping, Jiang Zemin and other leads of the government plus the relics and photographs of Lei Feng. There are more than 400 items of memorable relics. The Lei Feng Memorial Hall is equipped with advanced establishments. The environment there is fascinating and it is the activity center for propagandizing, researching and remembering Lei Feng and his stories.
The Lei Feng monument erects on the principle axis of the Lei Feng Memorial Hall, it is made of granite. It is 13.4-meter high, the frontispiece of it are seven Chinese characters “to learn from comrade Lei Feng” by Mao Zedong. The lower part of the monument is white marble relieve, some of Lei Feng’s stories are carved into it.
Lei Feng’s statue is on the square in front of the tomb. The statue is 5-meter high. The Lei Feng’s stories exhibition hall arrange to exhibit Lei Feng’s 22-year life according to the time. The memorial hall has become an important position to propagate the spirit of Lei Feng and research the stories of LeiFeng.
How to get there: No matter where you are, you first go to Fushun city by train, then you may ask who you meet in the railway station, everyone in Fushun knows how to get to Lei Feng’s Memorial Hall.
The accommodation: There are so many hotels in Fushun, where to live and eat? You are the boss.
The price: less than 50 yuan per person.
You may not think it worth visiting, but I strongly recommend you go there to appreciate the greatness of Lei Feng’s spirit.

[color=limegreen]Mt. Jigong is located at the juncture of Henan and Hubei provinces, 50 kilometers south of Xinyang City. It has a fame of “ overwhelming Mt.song shan and Mt.hengshan in all their majesties” .It is a famous holiday resort and a major national scenic Area.
The outline of the mountain looks like a rooster crowing, hence its name. The main peak towers 784 meters above sea level, and is the best place to enjoy the fantastic view of sunrise. The mountain is like a grand garden in fog decorated with villas of various styles, towers, and pavilions.
more than a thousand plants can be seen in the mountain.the flowers mainly are:azaleas,fragrant thoroughworts and golden-coak chrysanthe-mum. There are also famous  specialities such as maojian tae, yangtao, chestnuts, white fungi and so on
Mt.jigong is 38  kilometers  south of xinyang, henna province, and bus can take you straight to the top of the mountain ,where shops, hostels and post office are available ,offering the tourists excellent services.

This time I wanna introduce a wonderful scenic spot to you guys---The Wu Xie Waterfall

of Zhuji, a small city near Shaoxing. Ok, let's look at some pics first~



We can guess by the name that Wu Xie has five waterfalls in all. Their shapes are

different from each other and all of them are very beautiful. This is the fifth fall.

The best time to travel is after heavy rains. The waters will rushing down rapidly and

the scene is spectacular indeed. My suggestion for you guys is to have a nightstay

there on the first day and climb the mountain to appreciate the waterfalls on the next

day. The air in the mountain area is so fresh that you can have a good relax and enjoy

your holiday with the nature.

Transportation: take a train to Shaoxin and then change for a bus to Zhuji city.

The other spot I strongly recommend you to go is the Zhexi Canyon, which is located at a national natural preservation zone of the north-western part of Zhejiang Province.
This scenic spot is the most well-preserved one I have been to. The most exciting thing is to live at about 1200 metres high on the waist of a high mountain. You will feel that you can almost touch the sky, hence those inns' name are called "白云人家". Besides, waters and mountains are extremely beautiful there. The Canyon has several independent scenic spots in each spot is unique and fun. I spent 3 days in the Canyon last time and only visited 5 of those spots. What a pity! So I hope you guys had better have your stay there for at least 4 days. Don't be so hurried when you are at such a beautiful place!
