微型小说汉译英涂鸦一例

从很多年前自己写的帖子中翻出来的，一仍旧貌，聊作纪念。

　　　　　在交叉路口转弯的时候，我的脚踏车把一位陌生先生的右脚踝压伤了。本来我可以安全避闪的。当我看到那位先生一手牵着一个刚会走路模样的小男孩，一手牵着一个步履蹒跚的年老中风病患者时，我立刻紧急煞车把车头偏向一边，就在这时，他突然急速跨前一步，自己撞了上来。
　　　　　　我赶紧跳下车，不安地说：“对不起！对不起！”
　　　　　　他边弯下腰按摩脚踝，一边和气地抬起头：“我不怪你，是我自己撞上的……也许是我太多虑了，我以为车子如果不会撞上我的小孩，便会撞上我的父亲，于是下意识地上前阻挡。”
　　　　　　在我惊魂末定、讷讷不知所措的时候，那位先生已牵着小孩和老人慢慢离去，我愣愣地目送他们，三个脚步迟缓的背影构成一幅感人的画面。我有搁下车去帮助那位先生的冲动，可是，我一直没那样做，我发觉小孩和老者好像那位先生肩上的两头担子，再艰苦他也不肯放下任何一边的。

　　　　My bike hurt a stranger’s right ankle when I made a turn at the intersection. I would have avoided the accident, though. I saw that gentleman, in his hands a boy who seemed to just learn how to walk and an staggering old man who had obviously undergone a stroke. And I was making an abrupt stop and turning the head of my bike to the safer side to avoid them, when the gentleman suddenly made a big step towards me and hit my bike.
　　　　I dismounted my bike at once and said apologetically,"Sorry! I’m so sorry!"
　　　　He bent down to stroke his ankle, turning to me kindly and said,"it’s not your fault. I hit the bike by myself. Maybe I worried too much. I thought the bike would either hit my kid or my dad. So subconsciously I tried to step ahead to defend them."
　　　　Before I recoved from the shock and found my tongue, the gentleman had walked away slowly, the boy and the old man in his hands. I stood there still, watching them as they went. The three slow-moving figures constituted a moving scene. I had an impulse to leave my bike and go help him, but I never did that, as it seemed to me that the boy and the old man were two heavy burdens on the gentleman’s shoulders which, however,he would never abandon in whatever hard times.
