Heavy fighting between Taleban militants and Afghan police has left 12 suspected militants dead in southern Afghanistan. Local officials say the clash took place Monday night in Kandahar province. Monday night, five Afghans working at a U.S. military base construction site in eastern Kunar province were shot dead while riding in a vehicle. One other Afghan laborer was wounded.
