LONDON (Reuters) - British education officials were
red-faced Friday after having to scrap 48,000 literacy posters
with two glaring spelling mistakes. The errors were pointed
out by teachers who had received the posters for display in
their schools.
\"It shouldn't have happened,?\"a Department of Education
spokeswoman told Reuters. \"We are pleased that the teachers
are obviously reading the posters.?\"
The department failed to spot the misspelt word \"vocabluary\"
on the posters. They also failed to note that pupils were
being urged to learn about writing \"though\"their own work
instead of through it?The posters have now been reprinted and
distributed to schools along with letters blaming the blunder
on inattentive proofreaders.
