他的理想仍然存在，给十九世纪的文化留下了一个方向标。

这本书呼应了一些德国谚语和演讲。
3He cultivated his relationship with Sweden more as a hobby than as a vital, intellectual interest.

他把与Sweden的关系当成一种重要的、学术的兴趣来培养，多过于当成一种业务爱好。

与其说他把与Sweden的关系当成一种业务爱好，不如说当成一种重要的学术的兴趣来培养。

第二句的“Turns”感觉理解不到，第三句感觉得很难，得看上下文意思，请多多指教！
