     我接受阁下的盛情邀请，来访问这座伟大的城市，这使我有极好的机会向阁下和上海人民转达我市政府和人民的热烈问候以及诚挚的良好祝愿。请各位与我一起举杯，祝愿阁下身体健康，祝愿出席今晚招待会的所有中国朋友身体健康！

    This is a happy and memorable occasion for me personally and for the members of my delegation. On behalf of all the members of my mission, I would like to take this opportunity to express our sincere thanks to our host for their  earnest invitation and the gracious hospitality we have received since we set foot on this charming land.
    In accepting Your Excellency’s gracious invitation to this great city, I have got an excellent opportunity to convey to you and to the people of Shanghai  the warm greetings and sincere good wishes of the government and people of my town. I would like you to join me in a toast to the health of Your Excellency and to the health of all our Chinese friends present here.

We have laid a lot of groundwork, and helped China to implement its own strategy. We will reinvest and bring new technology into china.

    3.国际旅游是促进各国人民相互了解的有效途径。有着五千年文明史的中国是各国人民向往的旅游目的地。中国人民创造了世界上无与伦比的灿烂文化，名胜古迹比比皆是，如北京的长城呢和故宫、杭州的西湖、桂林的山水。
    然而现在展现在您面前的是一整套全新的游览节目，其中大部分以中国传统文化为特色。这些旅游节目集观光、度假和文化活动于一体，使海外游客有机会了解中国文化，尽情观赏所到之地的历史名胜和人文风景。

     International travel is an effective way of promoting mutual understanding among the peoples of the world. China, with its history of five thousand years’ civilization, is an attractive tourist destination for people of various countries. In its long history development, China has created a splendid national culture incomparable elsewhere in the world, with numerous scenic spots and historic sites all over the country, such as the Great wall and the Palace Museum of Beijing, the West Lake of Hangzhou, and the natural scenery of Guilin.
    However, a whole new panorama of Chinese destinations awaits you, most of which are characterized by traditional Chinese cultures. The new tour programs, which are so designed as to incorporate sightseeing, vacationing and cultural activities, will give overseas tourists a chance to learn about Chinese culture and enjoy their visits to their heart’s content to places of historic interest and cultural heritage.

    5.我很高兴中国地方贸易代表团能来美国参加科技展览会。我向来自地球另一面的中国朋友们表示最热烈的欢迎。本次展览会展出了美国近年来所取得的高科技成就，同时也是反映我国科技进步的一个窗口。
     有些展品是美中合资企业的产品，请各位与我们一起分享这种自豪和快乐。虽然这些展品数量微不足道，仅占所有展品的5％，却表明了我们广阔的合作前景。我们始终认为，“良好的开端是成功的一半。”我预祝中国朋友们在参观期间取得丰硕的成果。

     I’m very happy that the Chinese Provincial Trade Delegation is here attending the opening ceremony of the US Science and Technology Exhibition. My warmest welcome goes to our Chinese friends from the other side of the planet. This exhibition is a display of recent  Hi-tech achievements in the United States.
    Please share with us the pride and joy we have that some of exhibits are the products from some US-Chinese joint ventures. Although display of these exhibits is proportionally a mere fraction, only 5% of   all the exhibits, it is nevertheless a promising sign of our future cooperation. “A good beginning is half the battle,” as we always believe it. I wish my Chinese friends a most rewarding visit.
