“I just want you to know who I am”这是一个来自天使的声音。一个爱上了凡间女子，却又不能感受到一个凡人的温暖和苦恼的天使痛苦的声音。―――这就是在1998年获得巨大成功的影片《天使之城》的主题曲。这是一个被各种电影.小说重复了无数次的故事。可是，却仍然被演绎得美轮美奂―――当然这和Goo Goo Dolls为这部电影所写的乐曲有莫大的关系。
1985年，主唱兼吉他手John Rzeznil ,他的表哥Robby Takac , 以及鼓手George Tutusla,在美国纽约水牛城组成T—X摇滚团体Goo Goo Dolls.当时出的专辑反响一般，后来幸逢电影《天使之城》邀请他们为其原声带写作歌曲，John Rzeznik所谱写演唱的《Iris(希腊文，虹彩)》一曲，不仅为他们赢得1999年第41届格莱美音乐奖“年度唱片”、“最佳流行演唱团体”、“年度歌曲”等三项大奖提名，而且将他们的乐坛声望与唱片销量提携到顶端，<Iris>一曲的制作人Rob Cavallo 更以此获得“年度最佳制作”大奖。Goo Goo Dolls这才开始在乐坛上树立自己的地位，也找到了适合自己的Pop Rock风格。
《Iris》堪称流行摇滚音乐作品十年一遇的好音乐，音乐起始是清脆急促的吉他独奏，John Rzeznik饱含沧桑的低沉嗓音发出了对世事、对爱情满腹的疑问，而曲到中段，突然高昂，似乎疑问已经转为了真挚的誓言，“即使万物毁灭，我也只要你知道我是谁！”旋律的优美和主唱声线的粗犷形成了鲜明的对比，而正因为如此，此首乐曲脱离了甜腻情歌的范畴，成了百听不厌的超级经典。
