Graduates must be ambitious but realistic

LIFE is getting better. A couple of days after experiencing the lowest point in my job hunt, I have almost secured an offer.

Last week, the rural bank in Dongguan in Guangdong Province (where I had an interview two weeks ago) called me and asked me to have a medical check up.

This means that if I am physically healthy, I will be offered a job. I've bounced back. I'm happy to see my skills are appreciated by recruiters.

Through a relative who worked in the banking sector in Dongguan, I have learned why I was selected.

According to insiders, the final round interviewer, also head of the rural bank, values people who are willing to start at the bottom of the ladder and who can walk the walk rather than just talk the talk. I guess I showed these qualities during the interview when I talked about my experiences working part-time.

While I was a salesman with Suning Appliance Chains, the team I worked with offered the best service in the store. We not only patiently answered every customer inquiry, but also paid attention to customer needs even after they paid their bills.

I'd ask clients whether they needed any further help and would carry their appliances to their cars or taxis. Although the job was tiring and labor-intensive, I enjoyed the work.

It's important for college students, as entry-level members of society and the world of business, to have their feet on the ground. That's what I've learned from my job search.
