----It’s June 1st.

Is there anything wrong with the answer?
Do we have to add an “on” to “June 1st ”?

I think we needn't add an "on "before "June 1st". The answer is right.
Because here "it" just represent "June 1st", so the subject of this sentence is a time word, time word <--> time word, "on" is redundant.
