Sex sells. And in China, it never fails to stir up controversies.
A \"pleasure valley\" theme park officially opened to the public this Monday in Hengdian, Zhejiang. The 20 million yuan facility houses some half-dozen \"entertainment areas\" and an exhibition center celebrating sex culture. The theme park boasts that it's the nation's biggest \"sex education base\".
Visitors can learn about sex toys of all descriptions, watch videos on sex education and see a showroom that displays 51 life-sized mannequins demonstrating symptoms of different sexual diseases, including AIDS.
The backers of the theme park say that people should not feel ashamed about sex. They argue that more knowledge can help protect people from sexually transmitted diseases.
But some experts say that a sex education site should not double as a profit-making theme park.
Do you think this kind of theme park is a good idea? |
