The habit of chewing gum was popularized by Thomas Adams with his Adams' New York chewing gum and followed up with the oldest gum flavor still in existence, Black Jack. A rival company owned by Frank Fleer came up with Chiclets in 1899 and the first bubble gum, Dubble Bubble, in 1928. William Wrigley founded a gum manufacturing company in 1891, which is now the world's leading producer of chewing gum. Popular Wrigley gum flavors include Spearmint, Doublemint, and Juicy Fruit.
