DESCRIPTION
An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Department of Entomology at the University of Kentucky to pursue a molecular ecology research project, utilizing diagnostic molecular detection systems to study the dynamics of predator-prey and/or parasitoid-host interactions in terrestrial ecosystems. The start date for this 24-month appointment is flexible, but is available from October 1, 2007. Funding for additional years may be available, subject to satisfactory performance and successful grant applications.


QUALIFICATIONS
You should hold, or expect to obtain, a Ph.D. in molecular ecology/biology or related field, with relevant experience in isolation, amplification, purification and sequencing of mitochondrial/nuclear DNA, primer design, PCR optimization, etc. You must be highly motivated, with a proven ability in data handling, analysis, and the ability to work both independently and within a multi-disciplinary research team of faculty and graduate students integrating applied entomology, basic ecology and molecular biology.
