What's really important for the young people?

When the bell of new century resound throughout the boundless sky of our planet, it is natural to human being to review the past and look into the future. What the sunlight of the new era brings to man are not only the great hopes, but also the bitter tears. People are still plagued by poverty, hunger, environmental degradation and political or religious conflicts.
  A better world is what we all wish for. As the most active and vital force in the new century, youth has special responsibility to deal with those challenges. However, what kind of quality is most important for the young people in the new times? Diligence? Braveness? Or Wisdom?                                       Different people may have different answers. But in my opinion, the sense of innovation has the largest value for Chinese youth.
  It is well known that the curiosity and the desire for adventure are two innate features of young people. Unfortunately, Chinese traditional culture does not encourage youngster's innovation and independence. Routinism was respected as a virtue. With the rapid progress of high technology and its commercialization in information and biological technology, the world has stepped into the age of knowledge economy. The lack of innovation has led to a series of problems in china. In academia, many scientists repeat foreign colleagues’ experiments and obtain the similar results. This is the main reason for why we seldom find Chinese scholar’s names in the first class journals. In business circles, the managers are satisfied with introducing the foreign product-lines or technology rather than putting money into research center. The direct result is that we always lag behind for the absence of core technology.
  Innovation plays important roles not only in the field of science and technology but also in the changing of concepts. It is no doubt that the advance in science is important, nevertheless, the advance in concepts is more important in the process of the human society. Mr. Deng Xiaoping, the former general secretary, is a man with innovative spirit. Thanks to The reform and opening-up policy, which was put forward by Deng Xiaoping in 1980s’, great economic and social progress were made in the past two decades. It is general assumed that young people is easy to accept new concept. But attention please, this is just “acceptance”, not making a new ideal. It is not surprising that a young man dyed colorful hair, ringed in nose may hold some musty concepts while an old man has some extraordinary ideas. The youngster doesn’t have innovative spirit innately. How to emancipate the mind, promote the spirit of innovation is a hard task for young people. The more innovation we have, the more opportunities we seize.
I think the innovative spirit is the soul of a nation, while youth is the hope of the world. As a new generation, We are blessed with historic opportunities and faced with enormous challenges. I am confident that youth with quality of Innovation will create a new splendid world in the new century.
