无论alone做形容词或副词,它用在名次或副词后面时,都意为:“单单,仅有,只有”(only)。
如:You alone can do it. = You are the only person who can do it.
In class 2 alone, there are 10 students who can got full marks.= Only in class 2, there are 10 students who can got full marks.
In the American continents, Canada and Argentina alone have succeeded.
Maria alone was able to answer the question.
以上的alone都作only解。
alone常用作表语形容词,意为“单独的,孤独的”(without any other people;feeling very unhappy and alone)在句中用作表语而不用作前置定语。
如:I had never felt so alone and without hope in my life.
但偶尔也有偶尔作前置定语的罕见情况。
如:In the large public gardens in Germany there are special paths for children and \"alone ladies\".
